Job Summary
Conducts noninvasive diagnostic tests provided by the Cardiology, Cardiothoracic and Thoracic Surgery Clinics. Provides technical support to the electrocardiogram lab. Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range on their assigned laboratory. Requires successful completion of basic dysrhythmia course within 6 months of hire.
Job Duties
- Hours: 745a-345p
- Prepares patient and equipment for testing as described in departmental procedure manual to assure good technical results.
- Registers or applies various cardiac ambulatory monitors or other cardiovascular tests to record patients' cardiac activity, using specialized electronic test equipment, recording devices, or laboratory instruments.
- Explains testing procedures to patients to obtain cooperation and reduce anxiety.
- Monitors patients' blood pressure and heart rate using electrocardiogram equipment during diagnostic or therapeutic procedures to notify the physician if something appears wrong.
- Obtains and record patient identification, medical history, or test results.
