Summary:

The Vascular Surgery Service at Westchester Medical Center is looking to add a caring and motivated physician assistant (PA) to our growing team. This strictly inpatient role is ideal for a PA who thrives in a fast-paced hospital setting, enjoys complex surgical patients, and values collaboration as part of a multidisciplinary team. As a key member of the vascular surgery team, the PA will provide comprehensive care for patients with advanced vascular conditions, from acute admissions to postoperative recovery.

Shift/Status:

Flexible shifts. Primary schedule: 3-4 days/week.

Responsibilities:

•          Management of pre- and postoperative patients inclusive of, but not limited to, performing wound checks, drain/line management and vascular access monitoring.
•          Daily rounding as part of the inpatient vascular surgery team, presenting patient updates, participating in clinical decision-making and operationalizing these decisions to produce exceptional patient-driven results.
•          Order, interpret and follow up on diagnostic studies and lab results.
•          Educate patients and their families about disease progression, surgical recovery, medications, and follow-up care.
•          Occasional opportunities to assist in operative cases.

Qualifications/Requirements:

•          Board-certified physician assistant who possesses or is eligible to obtain an applicable NYS license.
•          Ideal candidates will have prior vascular surgery experience, but new graduates with high interest and commitment to vascular surgery patients are encouraged to apply.
•          Must possess excellent communication skills and demonstrate an ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
•          Willingness to grow with a dynamic inpatient-focused program.
•          Candidates with active BLS/ACLS certifications.
