Required Skills:
Nursing / Clinical:
Provide daily direction and regular communications to clinical staff, facilitate staff huddles
Provide solid direction and communication to clinical staff in all situations, including emergencies
Ensure that all EPSC staff deliver exceptional patient care to each and every patient the comes to the Center, and provides training and education to staff on the elements of "exceptional patient care"
Observes patient care and visits patients to ensure that patient care is carried out as directed, and treatment is administered in accordance with physicians' instructions
In conjunction with the Patient Experience Champion, evaluate patient care activities and survey results, continually looking for ways to improve patient care
Coordinates patient care with business office, pre-op, and PACU
Formulate and implement nursing philosophy and objectives consistent with the stated goals of the Center
Develop policies, procedures, and staffing essential to the achievement of the philosophy and objectives of the Center - review and revise these as necessary
Assures documentation of patient care to meet criteria dictated by state and federal health standards
Ensures that Standard Universal Precautions, the National Patient Safety Goals, and principles of aseptic and sterile technique are used appropriately
Coordinates with Materials Manager for equipment, special equipment, medications, and supplies for upcoming surgical cases, and resolves any issues
Investigates and resolves patient complaints - refers unusual problems to the Administrator
Oversight of all assigned clinical tasks, such as medication management, peer review, pathology, etc., and assistance with reporting in these areas as required
Assistance in clinical areas preparing for regulatory and/or accreditation surveys, and responding with action plans if required post-survey
Human Resources / Personnel Administration:
Assist with providing solutions where staffing challenges arise
Develop an organizational structure, assigning responsibilities and delegating authority that will facilitate safe, effective and efficient care for the surgical patient.
Provide effective leadership and support in developing and maintaining effective relationship with the center staff and medical staff
Establish, maintain, analyze, and evaluate standards of patient care within the Center in compliance with regulations, professional nursing standards, and recommended perioperative procedures
Recruitment, retention, evaluation, supervision, and coaching of clinical staff
Coordinates orientation of new employees with the Business Office Manager (BOM)
Provide and supervise nursing orientation programs and staff development as needed
Maintains records and tracking of all clinical staff certifications and licenses
Holds all clinical staff accountable for Center goals and objectives, as well as assigned responsibilities, individual goals, and performance expectations through annual performance evaluations and regular reviews
Quality Improvement:
Serve on the Committee of the Whole (COTW - Quality Committee) and Medical Executive Committee (MEC), and reports on quality data as needed
Personal Development and Professionalism:
Works with Patient Experience Champion to prepare information for staff, committee, MEC, and Board meetings
Assists in leading mandatory in-service and clinical meetings
Prepares Clinical and QI information for staff, committee, MEC, and Board meetings - attends meetings & delivers results and updates
Acts in accordance with the vision, mission, and business objectives of the Center
Looks for education opportunities that would benefit the staff of the center, and brings them to the center as available
General Position Requirements:
Associates in nursing from an approved nursing school required; BSN preferred
Five (5) years of nursing experience
Three (3) years of operating room experience preferred
ASC / HOPD management experience preferred
Current OR RN license
Current certification in BLS - ACLS & PALS within 6 months of hire
Demonstrates clinical competency, leadership, and coaching capabilities through past performance and experience
Physically and emotionally capable of performing responsibilities of the position
