Charge Registered Nurse (RN) in Ambulatory Surgery at Swedish First Hill

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional, comprehensive nursing care for patients in an acute care environment. Responsible for the workflow of the unit under the direction of the unit management team. Determines unit priorities for assigned timeframe with regard to patient care, patient flow (bed control), staffing and distribution of resources. Responsible for ensuring adherence to standards and regulations.
Is also accountable for the delivery of coordinated, safe, compassionate, therapeutic, evidence-based quality care to patients and families, based on individual physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, and appropriate care strategies throughout the lifespan. Practices in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act in the state of employment, the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the ANA scope and standards of practice. Key functions and specific skills for the job are found in the unit specific onboarding checklist and in standards that are applicable to the specialty.
- Looking for someone with strong clinical skills in Ambulatory Surgery.
- Circulating experience is required.
- 1-2 years Charge RN experience required.
- This person will manage staffing, physician requests, surgery bookings, morning and afternoon breaks, team coordination with Pre-Op, OR and PACU.
- This person will be required to take call on Holidays - 1 holiday per year.
- Needs to have experience with pediatric with pediatric cases.
Required qualifications:
- Nursing degree/diploma upon hire
- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Washington
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers at time of hire from American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network (MTN)
- One (1) year experience with like population of hiring unit and demonstrated leadership accomplishments
Preferred qualifications:
- National certification in area of specialty
- Previous charge nurse experience, to include leading teams
