General Summary
Contribute to the achievement of the DUHS mission through the development and leadership of performance improvement activities in the operational and/or clinical arenas. Assure continual compliance with regulations and accreditation standards through monitoring activities and the design and implementation of strategies to enhance compliance. This position will report to the Associate Chief Nursing Officer.
Work Performed
- Champion customer needs by working in conjunction with physician champions in anesthesia and surgery to design, develop, and implement enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) protocols across multiple service lines (urology, colorectal, GYN, oncology, spine, total joint, general surgery).
- Work with physicians and IT team to build order sets to ensure standard orders and processes of care for patients.
- Serve as education resource for the ERAS initiatives including for physicians, nursing staff, care team, and patients.
- Improve outcome results by coordinating performance efforts related to ERAS initiatives, data design, collection, analysis, display and reporting. Sharing data in multidisciplinary meetings and to various medical staff and leadership meetings. Monitor, collect and review data for patients following an ERAS protocol.
- Perform other projects, duties or assignments requested based on outcomes, regulatory visits and monitoring.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- BSN with 3-yrs nursing experience
- 1-2 yrs Inpatient experience strongly preferred
- Ability to communicate with customers/staff with diverse educational backgrounds.
- Analysis of data and processes for opportunities for improvement.
- Ability to manage numerous diverse projects simultaneously through effective priority setting, efficient use oftime, organization. Knowledge of accreditation standards and regulations related to healthcare.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Computer literacy.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Bachelors degree in a business or health-related field is required.
Experience
Minimum of 5 years work experience, including 3 years of experience with significant responsibility for performance/ process improvement. Experience leading work teams required. Experience can be supplemented with Master's degree with a Masters being equivalent to two years of experience.
