Fairview Health Services Cancer Infusion Clinic, located in Edina MN is a department of University of Minnesota Medical Center. We are looking for a Registered Nurse (RN) to support our busy Oncology/Hematology Clinic with cancer care support services and extensive IV Infusion services in a primary infusion role. We are the largest cancer care provider in the central metro region.
.9 FTE ( 72 hours per two week pay period), 9 hour shifts
M-F, Day shifts, variable start times
Weekend (S/S) rotation, typically every 6 th weekend (S/S) rotation, but may be subject to business need changes

Nursing duties related to Infusion Chemotherapy Infusion assignments include (but not limited to);
Manages complex medication and infusion therapies; such as antibiotics, monoclonal antibodies, chemotherapy and cytotoxic agents, blood products, infusion therapies (central lines, ports, peripheral IV placement and infusion devices) and associated medications to the adult and pediatric oncology population.
Rooming and educating adult patients/families
Simultaneously manages multiple infusions and daily flow of the infusion center ensuring the highest level of patient satisfaction and experience.
Displays critical thinking skills while managing and accessing patients with acute and chronic pain by using consistent pain tool.
Collaborates with patient/family and health care team to validate outcomes and develop and execute a plan of care which include; follow up and consultant appointments, patient education, complex procedures and lab draws.
Assesses and delivers health care through telephone encounters with patients and families, using the nursing process framework and specialty knowledge.
Documents triage advice/recommendations in the medical record and makes referrals while working as liaison between patients and providers.
Manages orders including accurate transcription of faxed orders, therapy and treatment plans.
Adheres to applicable policy and procedures related to medical and infusion therapy.
Maintains a high level of competency caring for and accessing central lines.
Provide emergent care in the event of anaphylaxis reaction.
Recognizes and incorporates ethical principles within the delivery of care
Minimum Experience: 2 years of RN experience in chemo administration and infusion experience including; competency with IV insertions, use and care of central lines such as picc's and implanted ports. Experience in administering antibiotics, monoclonal antibodies, chemo therapy, blood products and associated medications.
Experience working with adult population /patients
Minimum Licensure/certification/registration: Current Oncology Certified Nurse Certification or ability to obtain OCN certification within 1-2 years of date of hire based on FTE appointment Ability to provide written validation of current basic life support competency for healthcare providers
Current MN RN licensure or by start date
Must be able to obtain ONS/ONCC chemotherapy biotherapy certification upon hire date (typically within 1 month)
Prefer: BSN or willingness to obtain in near future Experience working in an ambulatory care setting
