Under general direction, and according to established procedures, supervises the day-to-day clinical and/or clerical activities of personnel for assigned ambulatory practices, clinic divisions or business operations. Identifies and develops methods for improving the overall clinic/business operations and/or delivery of patient care. Identifies opportunities for revenue enhancement and for increasing patient base. Supervises and monitors facility and professional billing functions to include management of charge profiles, insurance verification processes, registration functions and charge entry. Interviews, selects, hires and coordinates training of staff and administers corrective action as necessary. Develops, secures approval of and ensures adherence to budget. Coordinates the purchasing and inventory control relative to medical supplies, office supplies and medications. Coordinates and monitors the collection and transmission of professional billing information to an external billing agency for assigned department. Responsible for monitoring adherence to accreditation and managed care requirements. Monitors activities for and ensures compliance with laws, government regulations, JCAHO requirements and DMC policies. As directed, implements external and internal audit recommendations. Ensures hospital departments achieve objectives for diversity of their suppliers.
1. Associate's degree in health related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Health Administration or Business preferred.
2. Two to three years of progressively more responsible experience in an outpatient clinic which includes functioning in a leadership capacity with responsibility for day-to-day and business support operations, including professional billing experience.
