Recruitment is open for full-time Practical Nurses for the Oklahoma City VA Health Care System, Primary Care.You will perform a variety of duties to include, but not limited to, the following: The Licensed Practical Nurse (Primary Care) will provide clinical and technical support to patients receiving care. Incumbent should be able to show evidence of strong positive interpersonal/ customer service skills and ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary team members, patients, family members and significant others. The incumbent should also demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. The LPN can utilize hospital computer programs and demonstrate integrity and dependability. Additionally, the LPN should show demonstrated ability to function as a self-directed, productive team member and adapt readily to varying patient care needs and fluctuation in workload with minimal RN supervision. The LPN engages in nursing care which requires the knowledge and skills of an individual qualified as a licensed practical nurse. Position Requirements: Minimum of one of year nursing experience in ambulatory care preferred. Evidence of strong positive interpersonal/customer service skills. Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary team members, patients, family members and significant others. Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Demonstrate ability to function as a self-directed, productive team member and adapt readily to varying patient care needs and fluctuation in workload with minimal RN supervision. Demonstrate ability to observe, identify, document, and report deviations from the norm, including responding appropriately to urgent/emergent situations. Basic computer skills required (experience with a computer and mouse); advanced skills preferred (Microsoft word, excel, etc.). Demonstrate integrity and dependability. Ability to work flexible hours when required. The LPN for the Telehealth Team delivers support and care to the veterans, their care givers and providers that utilize the telehealth modality. The incumbent will perform and facilitate a range of Specialty patient care needs through face to face, as well as through virtual modalities such as Store and Forward (S&F), Clinical Video Telehealth (CVT), and VA Video Connect (VVC). Duties include, but are not limited to, patient screening/rooming, assisting provider with virtual appointments, medication administration, performing testing/imaging such as pulmonary function testing, retinal imaging, dermatology imaging, etc., patient and family education, coordinating and scheduling appointments, collaborating with the Office of Information Technology and Biomedical Engineering to ensure all telehealth equipment is working properly, and databases such as Telehealth Management Platform are up to date with current equipment/clinic/availability. Educating others regarding telehealth, management of clinical reminders and performance measures that apply to the telehealth program, as well as other duties as assigned to include those related to COVID-19 pandemic initiatives. Work Schedule: The hours will vary based on current vacancy and needs of the service, however Routine hours are from Monday through Friday between 0730-1630 with flexibility as needed to meet patient care needs.
