Outpatient Surgery Center Nurse Manager

Principal Responsibilities

• Responsible for, through the activities of the Facilitator, the supervision of nursing/allied personnel.
• Recommends departmental policies and procedures and maintain updates in alignment with SC and HSHS practices and initiatives.
• Coordinates adequate staffing of departments in a consistent and financially prudent manner.
• Review financial performance reports and execute recommended strategies for departmental financial growth.  Proactively identifies opportunities for departmental growth and efficiency.
• Excels at problem-solving through communication and innovative approaches to issues that arise.
• Maintains survey readiness for IDPH/CMS/Joint Commission.
• Reviews patient complaints and grievances and responds appropriately, escalating when necessary
• Participates in the Steering Committee and other committees, as required.
• Actively participates in Performance Improvement planning, data collection, and reporting to benefit quality patient care.
• Participates in budget preparation and evaluation of clinical equipment purchases.
• Reviews and approves departmental payroll records.
• Manages the selection, training/orientation and performance evaluation of department personnel.  Constructively counsel and when necessary, discipline staff.
• Assumes role of facilitator in their absence.  Capable of assuming staff role, if necessary.
• Works with HSHS departments to ensure emergency preparedness of staff.
• Works with HSHS departments to ensure staff competency at hire and annually, at a minimum.
• Completes work/repair requisitions.
• Keeps confidential matters relating to the department, its patients and employees.
• Complies with established incident reporting policy and procedures.
• Adheres to all OSHA, Springfield Clinic, and HSHS training & accomplishments as required per policy.
• Provides excellent customer service and adhere to SC and HSHS Clinic's Code of Conduct and Ethics Standards.
• Performs other job duties as assigned.

Education/Experience

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN or current enrollment in BSN program with graduation within two years of hire is required.
• Minimum three (3) years of experience in OR or PACU setting.
• Previous management experience preferred.

Licenses/Certificates

• Licensed as RN in State of Illinois. 
• PALS and ACLS certification per American Heart Association guidelines required within first 90 days of employment.
• Current CPR certification per American Heart Association guidelines required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Evidence of previous leadership experience.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be mobile throughout the facility.
• Proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite is required.
