Pediatric Pharmacy Resident - PGY2 Requisition Number 2012707
The Pediatric specialty residency at Monroe Carell Jr., Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt is designed to build upon a PGY1 foundation of clinical knowledge. Through further experiences in patient-centered care, teaching and leadership, the resident will have the opportunity to enhance their skills and confidence in pediatric pharmaceutical care. This resident can anticipate focus on sharpening their clinical skills in pediatric pharmacy practice while working towards independence, in a particular area if desired, throughout the 12-month residency. After completion, the resident will be prepared for an opportunity to work as a clinical pharmacy specialist. The goals and objectives of this program follow those established by ASHP for PGY2 Pediatric residencies. PGY2 residents will be expected to complete a project suitable for submission for publication upon completion of their residency year. Required rotations include (1 month each): PCCU, NICU, pediatric medicine (1-2 months depending on experience), oncology, ID and an ambulatory care clinic (longitudinal). Residents will also participate in a weekly ambulatory clinic. Elective rotations and other learning experiences, such as cardiology, ED, GI, neurology, stem cell transplant, solid organ transplant and more, will be tailored to the resident's interests. A teaching certificate program will be offered for interested residents. Special Requirements for Acceptance : Applicant must be a graduate of an accredited B.S. or Doctor of Pharmacy program and be licensed in the state of Tennessee by July 31st. Completion of an ASHP-accredited residency in Pharmacy Practice is required. To Apply for Residency : Interested applicants should submit the following through PhORCAS: curriculum vitae, letter of interest, three letters of reference and official pharmacy school transcripts. References should have comments on at least 50% of the items with at least two references from clinical preceptors preferred. No formal letter of recommendation upload necessary. Final acceptance is dependent on required Vanderbilt University Medical Center online application, drug screening and background check.
