Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Manager-Budgets & Planning.
The Manager - Budgets & Planning is a key member of the Finance Hospital Operations team who reports to the Finance Site Leader (Director of Finance) at NYU Langone Hospital Brooklyn . This position has many responsibilities as a liaison between financial reporting and budget departments and the Hospital's department operations group to operationalize the goals and objectives established by Executive Leadership. This role is responsible for providing financial analytics and narratives on operational activity to the Finance Site Leader and Executive Leadership and assists with the supervision of the overall Finance Hospital Operations function for Brooklyn.
Responsible for preparation of the Clinical Mission Financial Analytics that are provided as support to Financial Reporting for month-end close. This package includes in-depth analytics to identify operational factors attributed to volume, revenue, and expense variances.
Coordinates with Department and Executive Leadership in development of strategic business plans and resource request proposals to the NYU Langone-Brooklyn Position Control Committee, ensuring accuracy of volume, expense and revenue assumptions.
Assist the Director of Finance, Hospital Executive Director and Sr. Leadership team on special projects that require financial analysis. This position utilizes EPSi Decision Support System and PeopleSoft Financials to prepare ad-hoc analyses providing critical data to Hospital Executive Leadership to aid development of strategic initiatives.
Support the Finance Site Leader in the annual budget process as a Clinical and Operational liaison, providing departmental leadership the tools and support necessary to meet targets for the Operating Budget.
Provides support to Department VPs and Department Directors in monitoring monthly expenses, ensuring adherence to budgeted targets and the goals of the institution.
Coordinates with departments on implementing staffing strategies that will reduce cost and improve efficiency.
Responsible for collaboration with Data Management to ensure that system dictionaries and information is up-to-date.
Work with the Finance team to streamline internal financial reports and reporting processes to deliver more efficient, more effective, and more useful reports and analysis.
Responsible for working with Central Budgeting and Corporate Financial Reporting departments to monitor corporate expenses and monthly allocations to budget.
Additional Position Specific Responsibilities: Experience in general ledger and cost accounting methodologies, and budgeting systems. Experience dealing with other system wide employees outside of one's individual department, with particular emphasis on interaction with the Hospital finance & department operational managers. Ability to manage multiple tasks & responsibilities concurrently, as well as meeting deadlines while documenting work flows clearly & precisely. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Proficiency in Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office Applications. Knowledge of Hospital Cost Accounting and Financial Reporting Systems, General Ledger systems. Individual will be required to assume other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a Masters degree preferred, Bachelor's Required 10+ years
Preferred Qualifications: Expert in data analytics tools such as Excel, Tableau and Alteryx. Experience with PeopleSoft Financials, PeopleSoft HCM, EPSi, and Epic. Medicare, Medicaid regulations and other reimbursement methodologies. Knowledge of Managed Care contracts.
