Pharmacy Clinical Operations Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and sustaining Clinical Pharmacy Programs. Provides oversight for quality assurance of Clinical Pharmacy Programs to improve quality care, improve customer satisfaction, and promote education and research. Provides leadership for various clinical education programs for students, residents, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.
In partnership with the Sterile Operations Manager, Non-Sterile Operations Manager, Ambulatory Manager, Support Services Manager, Director of Pharmacy Clinical Operations, and the Senior Director of Pharmacy and Clinical Nutrition, oversees the Pharmacy day-to-day Operations to ensure that patient pharmaceutical needs are effectively met, and establishes policies, procedures, standards and objectives for provision of services and coordinates with other departments to provide maximum level of services to patient/families and hospital staff. Continuously improving services to meet customer needs, assuring adequate resources are available, and integrating services with other professional services within & outside the hospital to assure continuity of care.
MBA and/or PharmD from an Accredited College of Pharmacy strongly preferred
3 years of supervisory experience preferred
PGY2 Pediatrics preferred
ASHP Accredited PGY1 Hospital Residency required
Active Delaware Pharmacist License in Good Standing required
Extensive knowledge of drug products, medical therapeutics, and disease states; ability to work with information systems, automated, and technical equipment; ability to establish and maintain working relationships with various members of the health care teams;
Working knowledge of Lean Management Principles preferred;
Knowledge of Continuous Improvement, Change Management, Quality & Safety Principles for Healthcare preferred
Plans the development, implementation, and maintenance of Clinical Pharmacy Services.
Develops the goals and objectives and establishes & implements policies and procedures for assigned Clinical Operations.
Responsible for compliance with JCAHO and other regulatory standards as they apply to assigned duties and responsibilities.
Maintains departmental reports and statistics, reviews department performance, effects change as needed to improve services provided, and assures compliance with regulatory requirements.
Develops standards of performance, monitors and supervises assigned Clinical Pharmacy Specialists & Pharmacy Interns.
Responsible for the coordination of staff development related to Clinical Operations.
Evaluates performance and initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions, such as merit increases, promotions, and disciplinary action.
Participates in the Departmental Strategic Planning.
Develops, organizes, and determines Clinical Operations & Services to obtain objectives within budget in accordance with overall health system needs.
Assists with budget preparation annually; reviews compliance at established intervals.
Consults and advises members of the medical staff and related staff concerning information on medications, therapeutic evaluations, and drug therapy; provides drug information and information material; meets and/or coordinates with medical and/or nursing personnel to resolve problems related to Clinical Pharmacy Services.
Coordinates, conducts, and manages the activities of the Departmental Residency Program and the Pharmacy Clerkship Training of affiliated schools of Pharmacy.
Collaborates with the Medication Safety Officer to identify trends in intervention reporting & assist in plan development to reduce identified trends.
Participates in the Department’s Pharmacy Practice Residency Program.
