In partnership with the Director and Medical Director of the ASC, the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) Administrator is responsible for implementing the overall direction and daily management of the ASC. This direction and management must be consistent with the policies, objectives, practice standards, and regulatory requirements of the ASC. The Administrator will apply Vancouver Clinic’s principles and behaviors to develop ways to support improvement and expansion of the ASC.
Essential Duties and Functions:
Leadership and Operations Management:
Create, maintain and operate a lean management system; developing a culture of continuous improvement and demonstrating consistent leadership through Leader Standard Work.
Implement the strategic and operational plans, policies and procedures consistent with the objectives of the ASC and the Clinic.
Analyze and interpret operational financial documents.
Perform financial analyses including cost/benefit, variances.
Assist managers in developing operational and capital budgets.
Audit patient account reimbursement to insure contractual compliance.
Coordinate with PFS to monitor accounts receivable and collections.
Communicate financial policies for private and public payers to physicians, patients and staff.
Assure quality patient care at department level by developing a center that facilitates safe, effective, and efficient care.
Accountable for patient, provider, and employee satisfaction.
Staff Management and Development:
Lead and coach the Managers.
Develop, monitor, and control the staffing needs of the ASC.
Establish & maintain solid work relationships, through communication, cooperation, and positive interaction with all employees, staff and physicians.
Process Improvement and Change Management:
Identify and analyze problems in ways that yield measurable, improved performance.
Ensure that strategies and actions are adapted which build/ sustain an enriched business environment, one that promotes continuous improvement and adaptability, and recognizes employee contributions and performance.
Ability to comfortably communicate with both staff and physicians in regards to policy enforcement.
Establish effective working relationships with senior management, staff, patients, providers, customers, vendors, and managers.
BA in Business, Healthcare, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in managing patient or customer service teams in an ASC, or other healthcare business operations, including hiring, managing, and developing direct reports, as well as creating and managing to an operational budget.
Experience utilizing Lean processes to improve business outcomes.
Demonstrated ability to develop and articulate goals and leadership messages designed to promote organizational strategies.
Experience creating strong dyad relationships with medical leadership preferred.
EMR experience in EPIC preferred.
Demonstrated ability to determine how current/future trends and legislation impact healthcare, e.g. access, patient/staff satisfaction, turnover; and to develop plans to adapt effectively.
