Avanza Healthcare Strategies is supporting our client Cedars-Sinai in its search for a motivated and energetic Business Office Manager for two high volume and fast-paced Endoscopy Centers located in Los Angeles, CA. The Ambulatory Surgery Centers, affiliates of Cedars Sinai, are physician-run and home to the latest advances in technology and equipment, many of the area’s most reputable physicians, and a hand-picked team of dedicated, experienced nurses and technicians.
The Business Office Manager will be a critical member of the team and will work in conjunction with the Administrator and Director of Nursing to supervise and coordinate business functions. The business office includes administration, medical records and human resources.
Identify gaps in billing office practices and works with proper stakeholders to ensure full revenue cycle process is complete
Actively participate in the center’s quality program. Maintain monthly operations reports, daily case count, payer and specialty mix reports and spreadsheets for salary, employee files, and managed care contract
Make regular updates to the centers policy and procedure manual
Ensure that adequate business office staffing is available, coordinates staffing assignments and designates responsibilities daily
Serve as first level contact for escalation of patient complaints
Supervise the daily operation of the business office to ensure it runs efficiently and productively; This includes orientation, performance appraisals, coordinating breaks, lunch relief, assisting in front desk, insurance or scheduling duties.
Coordinate with physicians, medical staff and administration to ensure that effective communications are maintained with patients, visitors, and all personnel. Represents and communicates for entire business office all matters relating to timecards, employee vacations, PTO use, etc., goals, physician offices, insurance companies and Administration.
Maintain accountability for daily case monitoring and oversees that schedules are remaining fully maximized
Oversee billing and cash collection process to ensure that the process is efficient and timely.
Handle the office (supplies), patient, visitor and break room (food and beverage items inventory for the center, keeping adequate stock to meet operational needs
Implement safe practices and provide knowledgeable guidance and evaluation of the environment of care management including life safety (fire prevention), security, hazardous materials and waste management, emergency preparedness, infection control, and the safe use of medical equipment and utilities.
Maintain current policies and procedures for the Surgery Center business office. Cross-trains all business office personnel for familiarization with others duties to keep office running efficiently. Coordinates/delegates work within the business office.
Participate and provide input into the center’s budget throughout the year
Oversee and conduct quarterly peer review and chart audits
Prepare and participate in center meetings as assigned by the center administrator
Knowledge of the principles and experience in the practices of health care planning and management
High degree of initiative, judgment, discretion and decision-making to analyze situations and take effective action
Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers
Ability to put together presentations and collateral for the center
Analytical ability to synthesize data to develop reports and help inform decision making
Demonstrated organization and problem-solving capability
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Minimum of 3 years related experience in revenue cycle management, insurance contracting, billing and supervision of people
Previous experience in a freestanding ambulatory surgery center preferred
Associates Degree or Two- Year Technical Degree equivalent required; Bachelors Degree in Business or Healthcare management preferred
