Shape the Future of Ophthalmology at Mary Washington Healthcare
Mary Washington Healthcare (MWHC) is entering an exciting new chapter in ophthalmology, and we invite an Ophthalmologist to play a key role in the continued growth of our expanding Eye Care Center in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
This opportunity is ideal for a board-certified or board-eligible Ophthalmologist with strong clinical and surgical skills who is looking to practice in a collaborative, well-supported environment. Fellowship training in glaucoma is preferred, though we are pleased to consider general ophthalmologists, including those recently out of fellowship, who are eager to grow their practice and make a meaningful impact.
The Opportunity
As part of our ophthalmology team, you will provide comprehensive eye care across both outpatient and surgical settings. You will work closely with colleagues across specialties and play an important role in diagnosing, treating, and managing a wide range of ocular conditions.
Your practice will include:
- Evaluating and treating patients with conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, and other ocular diseases.
- Diagnosing and managing inflammatory, neurological, and vascular disorders affecting vision.
- Performing comprehensive eye exams, including routine vision and general ophthalmology care.
- Consulting on referrals from other specialties, including Neurology and Rheumatology
- Developing individualized treatment plans focused on restoring and preserving vision
- Performing cataract surgery and other surgical procedures related to injury and disease of the eye and visual system.
- Performing a variety of laser procedures, including YAG and SLT.
- Diagnosing and treating injuries, disorders, or diseases involving the cornea, sclera, conjunctiva, retina, and eyelids.
- Participating in hospital call coverage, shared with two other ophthalmologists.

Qualifications
- Board-certified or board-eligible Ophthalmologist.
- Eligible for or holding a Virginia medical license.
- Completion of medical school, internship, and residency.
- Fellowship training in glaucoma preferred, not required.
- Excellent clinical judgment and surgical skills.
- Commitment to patient-centered care and teamwork.
- Interest in contributing to a positive, collegial work environment
