Senior ophthalmologist is seeking to hire an ophthalmologist to join his team of highly trained vision care professionals to serve a large, established patient base in a modern office complex with ten eye lanes and state-of-the-art equipment including a Humphries visual field analyzer, LensStar optical biometry, and Zeiss OCT and fundus photography camera. Dr. John Cooksey offers mentoring of young ophthalmologist and welcomes the teaching experience.
The interested ophthalmologist must commit to providing patients with the highest quality healthcare services in a professional, caring manner. Valuable skills required include communication, organization, and attention to details.
Present during office hours 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Mondays – Thursdays
Available for patient exams to gather essential information
Prescriptions for glasses and contact lenses with technicians providing patient instructions
In-office surgeries for chalazia, lid procedures, Yag laser, etc. based on comfort, experience levels
Local surgery-centers for cataracts and glaucoma based on comfort, experience levels
Share call with center’s lead physician
Contribute to daily office operation with other physicians and staff
Health, short and long term disability, and malpractice insurances
Vacation and/or meeting attendance time with scheduled office coverage

About John Cooksey, M.D.
John Cooksey, M.D. served 3 terms as a United States Congressman. He is an accomplished surgeon and humanitarian. Dr. Cooksey served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He also volunteered in the mission field in East Africa providing healthcare for 6 years and helped in founding an eye clinic in Kenya. Dr. Cooksey trained residents from the Ochsner Foundation Hospital and LSU Medical Center in Shreveport in anterior segment eye surgery for 20 years. He earned an Executive MBA from the University of Texas in Austin in 1994. Dr. Cooksey has practiced ophthalmology in Monroe, LA since 1972.
