Radiology Support Tech Performs a variety of support functions to facilitate the delivery of services to radiology patients such as transporting patients, maintenance of film records, assisting Radiology Technologists and preparing patient records. Essential Job Duties: - Answer telephone and directs calls to appropriate person and takes messages as appropriate.
- Greets patients when they arrive in department for exams and notifies technologist of patient's arrival.
- Verifies patient order, ordering physician, patient information before entering in computer system, then enter exam in Hospital Information System.
- Explains preparations and identifies special instructions to patients about their imaging exam.
- Sorts, distributes, mails and faxes all reports to the appropriate locations.
- Informs technologist and/or Radiologist of STAT or urgent studies; informs technologist of add-on studies.
- Retrieves images from PACS following a patient's encounter with any of the imaging modalities.
- Retrieves and searches for images in the PACS system.
- Demonstrates ability to navigate through EMR in order to gather patient information when necessary.
- Assist physicians in retrieving images from the PACS system.
- Ensures that correct demographic information is entered in the computer system when checking a patient in.
- Transports patients to and from the Radiology department as needed and communicates with patient's nurse that the T2R is filled out correctly and the patient is signed out in the book on the unit.
- Rotates to other imaging departments as needed; participates in holiday and on-call rotation requirements.
