Midwest Center for Youth and Families is seeking a dynamic and talented RN.
Midwest Center for Youth and Families opened its doors in 1997. Since then, we have been providing high quality care to patients from across the country in our therapeutic residential facility. Our full immersion Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) program specializes in treating males and females, ages 10-20, with behavioral and mental health challenges.
Our unique residential DBT program gives hope to families who care for a loved one that has pervasive emotional, behavioral, or psychiatric challenges that impact their functioning at home, in school, and within the community. We will help patients and their families understand how DBT can take them on a journey which creates a life worth living.
The Registered Nurse provides nursing care to patients on each clinical unit as assigned, under the direction and supervision of the Director of Nursing.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
1.Continually assesses the physical and emotional needs of each patient. Initiates an individualized care plan for the patient(s) who have an identified medical condition noted on their Axis III of the master treatment plan and changes in medical condition.
2.Demonstrates awareness of the key elements of the treatment plans for all assigned patients. Initiating a change in medical condition form if a patient has a medical complaint.
3.Implements quality patient care to assigned patients by completing monthly height and weight measurements on all patients.
4.Conducts groups weekly. Group sheets or materials turned into supervisor weekly.
5.Participates with other personnel in maintaining a safe and therapeutic milieu by completing a weekly or pass body check on patients documenting findings.
6.Maintains professional standards of preparation, performance, and attitude.
7.Promotes and maintains departmental functioning in a professional manner.
8.Ensures all new patients are scheduled for health and physicals within seven days of admission unless otherwise noted by the Intake Department.
9.Completes and documents weekly vitals on all patients.
10.Ensures the Dietician recommendations have a physician order. Dietician orders reviewed every 30 days.
11.Contacts parents or guardian with each medication change.
12.Completes weekly infection control rounds audit sheet and places in infection control binder.
13.Makes outside doctor appointments for patients.
14.Faxes patient demographic sheet to all vendors to ensure billing information is accurate.
15.Transcribes a physician order and ensures the accuracy of the order by having another nurse verify the transcription within 24 hours.
16.Receives, documents, transcribes, and carries out physicians orders.
17.Ensures all routine and PRN medication is initialed on the Medication Administration Record (MAR) daily.
18.Participates in checking the MAR to ensure accuracy at the end of each month. Check must initialed.
19.Completes monthly skin prevalence checks on assigned patients and documents.
