Vail Health and World Renowned Orthopedic Surgeons with The Steadman Clinic and Vail Summit Orthopedics have partnered to create a Total Joint Replacement Service Line which delivers exceptional outcomes in Vail, Colorado. The Service Line offers unparalleled, evidenced-based inpatient and ambulatory care for joint replacement patients who enjoy the breath taking views of Vail Mountain from the comfort of their room.
We are currently seeking experienced Total Joint Replacement Operating Room Technicians to join our team. We are seeking talented and knowledgeable Surgical Technician/Technologists with experience in Total Joint Replacements and advanced orthopedics in both the inpatient and ambulatory facilities. This is an amazing opportunity to be a part of an exceptional team in this exciting and growing field.
The role will work under the direct supervision of the RN as well as the Medical Director of the Total Joint Replacement Service Line in assisting the surgical team by acting as the primary scrub person who handles instruments, supplies and other related equipment during surgical procedures.
$7,000 SIGN ON BONUS
Assists in total joint replacement procedures in a high volume total joint replacement center that provides excellent inpatient and outpatient care in an efficient and team centered environment.
Assists during surgical procedures by ensuring and maintaining the integrity of a sterile surgical field and providing instrumentation as needed to the surgical team. Participates in unit activities that assure high levels of quality related to patient care.
Position functions under the direction of a Registered Nurse and Surgeon as well as the OR Director in both Hospital and Surgical Center.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Possesses expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique and combines the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation of tools and technologies in performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. Functions with working knowledge of AORN standards.
Maintains and checks all items for proper packaging, processing, moisture, seal and packaging integrity, sterile indicator if present, and expiration dates. Ensures that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly and the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety.
Monitors sterile field for events that may contaminate, interfere, or alter field and initiates or notifies of need for corrective action.
Monitors, evaluates and revises preference cards and knows the order in use of material and supplies.
Maintains flexibility while contributing to the individualized, ongoing delivery of care within the scope of practice.
Models effective, timely communication with the perioperative team with full participation in Time Out Process to include Briefings and Debriefings.
Assists team in patient transports, room turnovers, and room preparation.
Models professional behavior to include maintaining currency in new technologies and procedures, including instrumentation and equipment.
Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.
Perform other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant.
Minimum one year of Operating Room experience working as an OR technician in a Hospital setting.
Ability to obtain and maintain a State of Colorado Surgical Assistant or Surgical Technologist.
Basic Life Support (BLS) by American Heart Association required.
Computer / Typing: Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
Must have working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.
