Meets the requirement to develop, negotiate and administer purchasing agreements and contracts with suppliers in support of organizational requirements
Reviews all vendor contracts including but not limited to equipment warranties, lease to buy options and instrument repair/replace contracts.
Actively measure and manage the vendor and supplier cost, quality and delivery performance
Develop and manage purchasing budgets and forecasts
Monitor and reduce purchase variances to meet profit objectives
Oversee the operations and daily activities of the purchasing department
Performance manage, develop and motivate purchasing staff
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
Establishes and maintains comprehensive perpetual par level and inventory management system at MBJSC including associated policies and procedures.
Oversees equipment maintenance at MBJSC (except IT and office equipment), ensuring that broken equipment is taken out of service and sent for repair in a timely manner and suitable temporary replacement equipment is secured.
Takes an active part in budgeting
Reviews vendor offerings, seeks bids and negotiates (with CEO’s assistance) best prices, discounts, terms and quality for the following: Surgical, Medical, Pharmaceutical, Laundry, Medical Gases, and Office Supplies.
Demonstrates knowledge of appropriate vendors to obtain appropriate equipment and supplies.
Maintains current files, records and catalogs for equipment and sales representatives who service the facility. Maintains adequate and accurate data with regard to item, vendors, terms and conditions, freight costs, delivery lead times, contract and agreements with vendors and volume of purchasing activity.
Researches vendors to locate specialized equipment as requested by the medical staff and approved by the CEO/management
Meets with vendor representatives to review new items available and changes in prices
Understands responsibility in maintaining proper levels of inventory and timely distribution
Procures identified equipment, materials and supplies in an accurate and timely manner. Develops and maintains effective relationships with vendors, suppliers, manufacturers and neighboring facilities to coordinate evaluation, selection, purchases and implementation of product and supplies.
Coordinates rental/leases for various items including coordination of equipment/supplies between facilities.
Assists in the development of in-service education for the staff regarding new instrumentation, products and equipment in coordination with the Surgery Center personnel.
Assists in the development of locator lists for Surgical equipment and supplies.
Supervises receiving area to maintain secure storage
Demonstrates appropriate response to changes in schedule to avoid delay in providing equipment and overstock of inventories Review schedules well in advance to anticipate any unusual high or low demand for supplies
Plans for procurement of supplies for immediate future (later in week and future needs/requests)
Monitors daily needs and has supplies available for use
Continually communicates with the staff, CEO and ASC Clinical Manager, as appropriate, regarding special procedure requirements
Serves as customer service representative for Materials Management: takes the lead in resolving disputes, errors, conflicts and issues between vendors, suppliers and ancillary departments that arise in the course of day-to-day operations (works with vendors to coordinate orders, returns and problem resolution)
Monitors back orders (offers acceptable substitutions if necessary) and communicates with accounts payable to facilitate accurate payment
Demonstrates knowledge of appropriate systems for the collection and maintenance of records and documentation pertinent to supplies, equipment and systems.
Maintains current files and records regarding orders and back orders.
Reviews orders at specific intervals to determine delays.
Maintains and frequently review records of warranties and preventive maintenance requirements and contracts.
Maintains logs of linen supplies.
Maintains supply areas and adjusts as needed
Maintains supplies and records for: Medical gases,Inventory,and printing of forms
Assists with building maintenance
Coordinates BioMed in conjunction with maintenance and the surgery center staff: Anesthesia Machines,Surgery Center Equipment,Surgery Center Instruments,Clinic Equipment, and Clinic Instruments

Two years supervisory experience
